HOW GOLD GESSOED PAPER TAKES WATERCOLOR PAINT

I had a little scrap of gold gessoed watercolor paper and showed my students how to paint foliage with just a few greens and blues, painting with the side of the round brush and leaving it alone to dry and create the texture look.  The gesso just about does all the work for you if you can just put down the paint and leave it alone.  And if you hate it, wipe it back up and start over.

Your method for foliage is perfection! Also would work beautifully for lending depth to clouds!

It's very easy to get that look on the gesso, Sherry :)

Asit, it is a different technique and fun but just something for a change. I like to expose my students to all kinds of techniques and products - then they can choose what they like and don't like.
