PAINTING WITHOUT DRAWING

Another rose done without drawing, just painting the shapes and then trying to get them all to come together with the background.  I had to add some Chinese White to soften some hard lines I couldn't soften any other way.

And did another version of the Rough Seas painting after wiping off the oil pastel with Natural Turpenoid (nonflammable, nontoxic, according to the can).

Love your rose very much! I think
it'll take me years before I even
think about doing that :))

And now I like your sea again :)
Looks way nicer than the last time :))

Have a beautiful day Rhonda!

Lovely work. I feel very underconfident when I do not have a detailed drawing.

You are too kind, Sadami. I would never call anything I paint a masterpiece! :)

Thanks, Mowe, Lorraine and Asit. Asit, I am surprised to hear you say this about needing a detailed drawing because your paintings do not look like you draw that much - they have a nice, loose feeling to them. But your secret is safe with me :)

Had to go back and look at the other versions of your painting, really like what you have done with this version, i wouldn't touch it anymore, looks done to me :)

Oh how pretty, Rhonda! Both pieces! And that explanation below using those plastic sheets is perfect!

I don't know how you do it but these flowers without drawing are just wonderful. I like your rough seas too.

Thanks, Deb :) Jennifer Rose, thanks, I think you're right - it's done :)
Sherry, thanks!!
Just got lucky, Carol, with the painting without drawing - or maybe I'm at a stage where I can slow down, look, and do it - but it's not my usual way of painting!

Hello Rhonda! Your rose is absolutely divine, and all the more impressive for having painted without any preliminary drawing. I have been doing ink sketches in the same way and it's a lot of fun. Love your blog - you've got a great style!
