CHARCOAL AND CHALK

Can't See the Forest for the Trees

Started another one on cream Mi-Tientes paper, using charcoal and conte crayons (colored chalks).  I am using vine charcoal, which is really messy, but it's fun to use...soft and blurry and dusty.

I used to hate getting messy with charcoal and chalk, but I find myself not minding so much now.  Wonder what that means?

This one will be worked on as it's definitely not finished yet.

You are off to another great start, Rhonda. Love your color palette here.
What does it mean? Maybe it just means you have different priorities, that you're getting lost in the process and working more with your heart (if that makes any sense).
Whatever it means, glad you're working with the charcoal. My husband made some on our old BBQ grill from a swamp willow we had in our backyard at the old house in Michigan. People at his drawing class loved it. He couldn't make enough.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful start.

This one will probably see some more work done on it soon, but thanks so much Chris and Jennifer Rose, for the comments on it :) Chris, I've heard of people making their own charcoal. Jennifer Rose, this is soft and I use it initially, sometimes on its side, to brush on some charcoal and then use charcoal pencils for further work so I don't press too hard to try to get a dark line.

Ok House on Fire,, You have lots of company when it comes to the sketchbooks, . I'm a palette and sketchbook junkie... Some are filled some are not. Others don't have a dot in them.. I usually start one by doing some color charts or painting supplies..
Yes, I have the Visual Journal too..
